Bacti+® is a biological activator for septic, wastewater treatment plants, cesspools, latrine,  holding tanks, based on proprietary cultures of non-pathogenic micro-organisms, enzymes and nutrients. Regular application reduces the amount of organic matter deposits, grease layer, eliminates malodour and helps the purification of outlet water.

Application:

Directions for use:
Septic tanks, Sewage treatment plants, Cesspools, Holding tanks:
Starting dose: 2 scoops per m3 of volume. Monthly maintenance dose: 1 scoop (20g) per m3 of system volume. It is most effective to start the dosing of Bacti immediately after the pump out of sludge / cleaning. Dispense the product into the toilet and flush. In case of problems (dirty water at output, malodour, blockage, high / low temperature, toxic shock, ...) dose more frequently.
Latrine and Dry toilet:
Apply 3 litres of solution 2x/month. Solution:1 scoop of Bacti into 3 litres of lukewarm 25-30°C water. Stir and leave to activate 15 minutes. Stir again and pour into latrine / dry toilet.
Drains, Siphons (kitchen , bathroom, restroom):
Apply preferably nightly 0,2 litres of solution 1x/week. Solution: 0,5 scoop of Bactiinto 0,2 litres of lukewarm 25-30°C water. Stir and leave to activate 15 minutes. Stir again and pour into drain. Leave the product to act (do not use the drain/siphon) for at least 4 hours.
Drain lines:
Apply preferably nightly for each 5 meters of drain 0,4 litres of solution 1x/week. Solution: 2 scoops of Bactiinto 0,4 litres of lukewarm 25-30°C water. Stir and leave to activate 15 minutes. Stir again and pour into drain. Leave the product to act (do not use the drain line) for at least 4 hours.
Marine toilet:
Starting dose: 4 scoops per m3 of volume. Weekly maintenance dose: 2 scoops per m3 of system volume. Dispense the product into the toilet and flush. In case of problems (dirty water at output, malodour, blockage, high / low temperature, toxic shock, ...) dose more frequently. It is most effective to start the dosing of Bacti immediately after the pump out of waste.

Particular application conditions for product:
Disinfectants and some chemical cleaning products are toxic to microorganisms (dose Bacti at least 48 hours after the use of a disinfectant.). Use Bio-enzymatic cleaning products. In case of blockages or huge waste accumulation, clean the system before beginning the biological treatment with Bacti. To ensure successful treatment, keep to the recommended dose rates and apply the products on a regular basis.

Health & Safety:
Bactishould be handled under good housekeeping practices. The product contains naturally occurring non-pathogenic bacterial cultures and is nonflammable, biodegradable, non-toxic and completely safe, when used as directed. Keep out of reach of children. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with water for 10 minutes. Do not breathe dust. Store product in a cool, dry place.

Wherever people live or work they produce waste/sewage water, which has to be cleaned before it is released back into nature. The devices helping us to reduce soil in our sewage water are cesspools, septics, waste water treatment stations where the natural bio-enzymatic process can take part.  Here the microorganisms are digesting the soil out of the waste water. The biodegradable organic matter is changed in its passage through the cleaning device. Two fractions can be identified, related to the biodegradability, which is also dependent on the physical state:
  • Rapidly biodegradable: This fraction is usually in a soluble form and consists of relatively simple molecules. These molecules can be directly used by the heterotrophic bacteria.
  • Slowly biodegradable: This fraction is usually in a particulate form, although slowly-biodegradable soluble organic matter may be present. The slowly-biodegradable matter consists of relatively complex molecules that are not directly used by the bacteria. For this to occur, the conversion into soluble matter is necessary, through the action of extracellular enzymes. This conversion mechanism, called hydrolysis, does not involve the use of energy, but results in the delay in the consumption of the organic matter.
The application of Bacti largely promotes the biodegradation of both fractions.

They grow and reproduce forming an equilibrium with your body and preventing the bad bacteria to grow (restricting their resources!).
Bacteria have learnt to live anywhere and so they have learnt to eat whatever to survive. Some bacteria eat the food we eat, because they live in our mouth or digestive system. Other bacteria can eat dangerous or harmful substances (like oil) or eat anything that is decaying – decomposing dead plants and animals.

Competitive Exclusion
The microorganisms in the range of biological products work on a process called competitive exclusion. This process applies to all areas and surfaces where bad bacteria may exist such as floors, urinals, tiles, showers, waste water, etc. Bad bacteria can be dangerous for our health and are causing malodours through an insufficient degradation of organic matter.
Bad bacteria are often gram negative in nature and this type of bacteria cannot survive without a food source. The use of products adds concentrated ‘friendly’ resilient bacteria into the system. These friendly bacteria immediately start digesting the food source and growing in number they colonise the soil=food source, pipework, floor or any surface and continue the digestion process for as long as the food source exists. The waste product from these friendly bacteria is carbon dioxide and water. When the food source has been depleted, the friendly bacteria have the ability to become dormant and then re-germinate when further food becomes available.
The good bacteria take away the food source of the bad bacteria, outperform them and on this basis, the bad bacteria are quickly killed off.

According to current legislation valid in several  EU countries, it is required to perform a quality test of the treated domestic  wastewater before using it for watering plants in your yard. Although wastewater coming from a system which uses Bacti treatment is pretty clean, authorities usually need laboratory test as a proof of the cleanliness of your wastewater, before giving you the authorisation to water your garden with it. The reason for such a measure is to prevent ground water and soil from contamination.
 
Sewage treatment
Is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater, primarily from household sewage. It includes physical and biological processes to remove these contaminants and produce environmentally safe wastewater (effluent).

Effluent discharge charges (Commercial use)
In some instances the Environment Agency will enforce discharge consents, where a fee is paid on the nature of the effluent. This charge is normally based on Biological Oxygen Demands (BOD). The use of products reduces these charges by reducing BOD.

Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD)
Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) is one of the most common measures of pollutant organic material in water. BOD indicates the amount of putrescible organic matter present in water. Therefore, a low BOD is an indicator of good quality water, while a high BOD indicates polluted water. Dissolved oxygen (DO) is consumed by bacteria when large amounts of organic matter from sewage or other discharges are present in the water. DO is the actual amount of oxygen available in dissolved form in the water.

The request from a customer (food processing factory) was to develop a treatment schedule to reduce the Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) of the effluent from their wastewater treatment plant.
The decision was made to augment with a nutrient blend as well as the application of performant bacteria in Bacti. Adjustments were also made to the pH and dissolved oxygen levels in portions of the treatment system. As demonstrated on the picture bellow, this approach resulted in a very quick reduction in the BOD of the effluent.
